BONDS – Building Bridges Between Knowledge and Industry

16th of May Sterling S.p.A. welcomed students from the Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology (CTF) programs at the University of Perugia, accompanied by Professors Luigi Vaccaro and Antimo Gioiello, for a day dedicated to scientific dialogue and immersive learning. The visit opened with a deep dive into applied innovation, through the presentation “From particles to purpose: innovating API processes for more sustainable inhalation therapies” by Andrea Silvestri, which introduced the students to sonocrystallization as a promising alternative to conventional micronization—aimed at improving suspension stability and compatibility with low-impact propellants. From theory to practice: the students explored Sterling’s operational core, visiting the sonocrystallization line, the Research & Development laboratories, and the Analytical & Research labs—an experience designed to offer direct insight into the development of high-value pharmaceutical ingredients. BONDS is more than a project: it's a commitment to nurturing new perspectives, connecting education and enterprise, and giving space to the voices shaping tomorrow’s pharmaceutical landscape. To all those who joined us with curiosity, insight, and energy—thank you. The future begins with questions.
